We’re Hiring Employee Number 1

Mediator, a New York City Public Relations agency, seeks a publicist with the skillset and instincts of an investigative journalist

If hired, you'll be our agency's first employee and will play an integral role in operations, working directly with our principal

This is a remote job, but you must live in New York City for occasional in-person meetings.

About The Job

We’re a PR agency focused on one thing: Getting our clients organically featured in top-tier publications. As simple as that sounds, it’s not easy. The email inboxes of journalists at outlets like The New York Times are overflowing with PR pitches. To get a distracted journalist’s attention, you’ll need to dig deep to unearth newsworthy aspects of our clients’ businesses and personal lives, distill what you’ve uncovered into a series of succinct pitches, and share those pitches with hundreds, and often thousands, of writers, producers, correspondents, anchors, and podcast hosts, among other members of the media.

The vast majority of journalists we target - and sometimes all of them - ignore our pitches. Consequently, we’re looking for someone who is persistent and innovative.
